Bram Stoker -palkinto

Horror Writers Association jakaa vuosittain Bram Stoker -palkintoja parhaille kauhukirjoille. Palkintoja on jaettu yhdistyksen perustamisvuodesta 1987 lähtien. Koska jotkut kirjailijayhdistyksen jäsenistä kokivat kirjoittajien välisen kilpailuasetelman epämiellyttäväksi, palkintoja ei myönnetä vuoden parhaista vaan “for superior achievement”, “erinomaisesta suorituksesta”.

Palkinto voidaan myöntää mille tahansa englanniksi julkaistulle kauhukirjalle sen julkaisuvuonna. Horror Writers Associationin jäsenet voivat suositella ehdokkaita. Seuran aktiiviset jäsenet äänestävät ehdokkaista kahden kierroksen aikana ensin finalistit ja sitten voittajat. Palkinto on pronssinen pienoismalli kummitustalosta.

Välillä palkintoa jaettiin 12 eri kategoriassa, nykyisin kategorioita on kahdeksan: romaani, esikoisromaani, novelli (short fiction), pitkänovelli (long fiction), novellikokoelma, runokokoelma, antologia ja tietokirja. Lisäksi satunnaisesti jaetaan elämäntyö-Stokereita.
